The blue-printed floral pattern appears on the Wedgwood bone china body (this ceramic body is denoted by the presence of the Portland Vase backstamp apparent on the reverse of the piece variations of the Portland Vase backstamp have been used to denote the bone china body from around 1876/78 up to and including the late 1990s). Pattern number Y6790 is actually entered in factory records as Low Folkestone teas [shape]. Seine [pattern], printed in matt blue. Gold edge and gold stroke on handle.
The pattern makes an appearance in the extensive Y fine bone china pattern books and was first recorded circa the mid 1880s (unfortunately the books are largely undated). This particular example dates to after 1891 as the word England is apparent.
